5 Interesting Facts About Rabbits!

  • Rabbits can't vomit - their digestive system only moves in one direction, which means they can't purge anything they've eaten. This makes them very sensitive to toxic plants.
  • A rabbit's teeth never stop growing - they must wear them down constantly by gnawing, and can grow up to 12cm per year if not properly worn. A rabbit's teeth are also orange on the front, not white.
  • Rabbits practise a behaviour called binky - leaping and twisting in the air with apparent joy when they're very happy. A binkying rabbit is an extremely happy rabbit.
  • Baby rabbits are called kittens or kits, not bunnies - a group of rabbits is called a colony or warren, and the underground tunnel system they live in is the warren too.
  • Rabbits have nearly 360-degree vision - their eyes are positioned on the sides of their heads to give them an almost complete field of view, though they have a small blind spot directly in front of their nose.
